Wow, I didn't know guys like you existed! They should probably put you in some museum in Hollywood. I agree that Mann films should hit theaters anytime BUT in the summer months. You are right that his movies don't fit in with that "summer vibe." But that's exactly why I think he's the best director working today. Miami Vice wasn't his best film, but I think it's still a very strong effort. What you thought was sleep-inducing, I found to be tense and exciting. And what indicated a sequel??? Bet you can't wait for teenage mutant ninja turtles, but no you're right, serious films, with realistic plots aren't suposed to be out in the summer, all the people who likes good mature cinema should stay at home and watch DVD from the last fall.
