Merciful Zeus! L.A. was the awesomest.
I only have time for a quick update, as the show is on the road and playing Seattle on Friday and Saturday, but I did want to tell you all about the fantastic show this week at the L.A. Film Festival.
First of all, the show sold out days in advance - a big surprise since I was worried about us being up against the geek-tastic Transformers premiere (which I totally had to miss as well, darnit). So, hooray to loyal Buffy fans.
The show itself was fantastic, great singing and energy from everyone in the room, and just a whole lotta love.
But then after the show came the big shocker. An usher ran up to me and whispered, “Marti Noxon is in the audience and would like to say a few words.” But of course! I introduced her, she announced that she was indeed wearing underwear, and then she totally floored me by announcing a surprise guest. This guy:
Yeah - it’s Joss Whedon in person, y’all!!! He shook my hand and said he was really happy he could finally attend one of the shows, then opened to the audience with the following:
“Um, you guys…Dawn’s okay.”
Awesomeness! Like I said, it was a total surprise to me, though I’m told he was in the back row and watched the whole show. I did get a chance to thank him on stage for coming and for making such excellent entertainment.
Oh, and after the show, I had brief visit from Tom Lenk, who was also in the audience that night. I was so glad that I included a little Andrew trivia in the pre-show.
And this morning, the MySpace page and emails are going bonkers (I’ll be getting back to all you new folks contacting me later this week) thanks to all the blogs that reviewed the show. So special thanks to the following:
Pink is the New Blog - a glowing review (thanks, Trent!) with photos (scroll down past the Transformers stuff)
Variety - an “official” media review. Sweet!
Plasma Splasm - a nice play by play with tons of photos
Darion - another great fan review, more photos, and nice bubbles
RHCrayon’s Live Journal - offers up even more great photos.
And then we also got a shout out from this guy - which made our site hits go through the fricking roof!

That sounds awesome, although I wish these special guests would show up in NYC one day.

This was one of the most amazing nights of my life. You weren’t kidding!!
And to think: You didn’t even know Joss was there when you said that! I thought that was coy . . .
Unbelievable.
Thanks for the amazing time!!

Gonna have to second what blood sucking fiend said on this one. Somebody really needs to get Michelle Trachtenberg in the audience.

I was at this show at the Crest theater in Westwood and it was truly one of the best times of my life. They not only showed the best episode of the best show ever but they also showed some other Buffy stuff. And what a treat it was to have Marti Noxon and Joss speak to us. What a magical night!!! I can’t wait for it to come back to the Los Angeles area. I will be there!! Thanks you!!!!
