June 8 & 9 - Chicago, plus some updates

THE BUFFY MUSICAL in Chicago, IL
Fri June 8, Sat June 9 @ Midnight
At the Music Box Theatre
Tickets now on sale.

SUMMARY: We’re coming back to Chicago! This past January featured two of our biggest, most rip-roaring Buffy shows ever at the Music Box Theatre - two sell out nights in their 750 seat auditorium. So how could we not come back as one of the stops on our Big Buffy Summer Tour? Besides - I didn’t get hardly any time for sightseeing last time. Any Chicagoians got suggestions on the places I can’t miss (I’ve already got Quimby’s on the top of my list)?

This show will not only feature our usual evening of singing, dancing, and Buffy-oke, but there will also some special guests from our New York Cast on hand to help us throughout the show. Oh, and don’t miss the premiere of our new pre-show video tribute to…well, I think we’ll keep that as a surprise.

Just officially announced: The Buffy Musical plays the L.A. Film Festival on Wednesday, June 27th. This will be our first journey into Buffy’s home state (we’re coming back in September), and word has it that the festival will be providing us with a couple of celebrity guests!!! No, I can’t say who exactly (I’d hate to lie to you of somebody cancels), but I do know they have at least one confirmed and more in the works. Festival passes now on sale, and individual tickets available starting June 8th.

Portland residents: Our June 22 & 23 shows are coinciding with the nation-wide Serenity screenings - you know, the ones that benefit Equality Now and celebrate Joss’ birthday. We scheduled it so that you can catch both shows either night if you like (details on Can’t Stop the Serenity Portland shows here). Not only does that add up to one awesome weekend of Joss Whedon goodness, but we’re going to be donating $1.00 per ticket from the Buffy Musical to the cause as well!

Portland residents part two: There’s only one of us going to run the Buffy show this weekend and so we could use some help - primarily in stuffing the Goodie Bags before the shows. If you have some free time on Friday or Saturday and would like free tickets to the show, email us at buffysingalong@gmail.com.

And finally, the shows last weekend at Minneapolis’ Riverview Theatre were awesome. Not only is that one gorgeous movie palace, but the audience reaction was simply fantastic. Sure, there was that one nasty Buffyoke girl on Friday night (don’t be insulting Sarah Michelle Gellar on my stage!), but the crowd treated her appropriately to a big shower of boos. Anyway, Henri and Clinton had the best time, and even got to ride the rides at the amusement park in the Mall of America. Yes, we are cheesy that way. Pictures? You want pictures? We got them right here.

The Husband and I went to the show at the Music Box in Chicago last night. We were probably the two oldest people there, incidentally (I’m 44 and the Husband is 64). Since then we keep just suddenly looking at one another and saying “Man, that was fun.”

Absolute blast! Can’t wait to do it again some time. But sad no one noticed my Mr. Pointy earrings… sigh.
